My (largely) Unaccompanied Foray into Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

This is not what you’re meant to do. Ideally, you’d sign up for a DBT skills group, pay for an individual DBT therapist, and so on. But I already have a therapist, (maybe the 50th professional I’ve consulted about my difficulties), and I’m not ready to leave her just yet. I haven’t ruled out taking the conventional DBT route, but I want to do it my own way first.

So, I’m going to try to do DBT on myself, and see how I get on. I’ll have two trusty books to draw on -

Cognitive-Behavioural Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder by Marsha M. Linehan, and DBT Skills Training Handouts and Worksheets - by the same author.

I already know that it’s going to be an interesting journey. And that I’m finally ready for it. Better late than never.
